Women’s Basketball heads into the weekend 7-7 as they prepare to host a 12-2 Coastal Carolina team before traveling to Old Dominion (11-5) next Wednesday:

• The Chanticleers have three players averaging double figures in scoring: Savannah Brooks (15.1 ppg), Alancia Ramsey (10.4 ppg) and Kristin Williams (10.1 ppg)

• As a team, CCU is shooting 42.5% from the field, including 30.5% from distance, and 69.7% at the line

• En’Dya Buford, ODU’s leading scorer, is Buford at 12.6 ppg

• She is currently second in the conference in free throws made (60), free throw attempts (76), free throw percentage (78.9), and steals (34)

• Through games played on Jan. 5, the Monarchs rank ninth nationally with 43.93 rebounds per game, 16.7 offensive rebounds per game, and a three-point percentage defense of 24.1

The men welcome James Madison (9-7) on Saturday before setting sail to Old Dominion (7-9) in hopes of boosting their 8-7 record:

• Last week, the Dukes’ Mark Freeman scored 30-points to push the team past Southern Miss

• The senior guard shot 56% from the field and 50% from behind the arc

• JMU won three consecutive matchups before seeing a narrow loss to Marshall, 80-78

• Mark Freeman commanded attention yet again with 31-points

• Old Dominion’s Robert Davis Jr. averaged 25.5 in the team’s final two games to close out 2024 and claimed Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week

• Currently, Davis Jr. leads ODU in scoring (14.8 ppg), three-point attempts and makes (46-for-115)

• So far this season, the Monarchs have swatted away 42 shots and swiped 65 steals

• The team ranks first in offensive rebounds per game (14.31), and have the second-best rebounding offense (39.54)
